Configuring Amarok to use Proxy Server

Amarok is a very powerful multimedia interface for ubuntu or debian users. It frequently requires internet connection to carry out some of the basic tasks. But it doesn’t come with option of configuring proxy settings in the user interface.

Here is a way to configure amarok to use proxy settings.

Edit file  ~/.kde/share/config/kioslaverc and append the following lines-

[Proxy Settings][$i]
ProxyType=1
httpProxy=http://user:password@proxyserver:port/
httpsProxy=http://user:password@proxyserver:port/
ftpProxy=http://user:password@proxyserver:port/

For Example, if you don’t have any username and password,

[Proxy Settings][$i]
ProxyType=1
httpProxy=http://144.16.192.218:8080/
httpsProxy=http://144.16.192.218:8080/
ftpProxy=http://144.16.192.218:8080/

Save the file and restart amarok. Now the amarok should work fine.
